James Carter

William James “Will” Carter Jr., born October 7, 1982, was known for his fierce dedication to family, his employees, and his faith. Raised in Phoenix and later living in Orlando and the Atlanta area, Will built a life defined by hard work and a desire to give others a fresh start. As president and CEO of Georgia Select Insurance Co., he grew the company from a single office into multiple locations employing dozens of people, and he took pride in offering opportunities to those rebuilding their lives.

Will treasured time with his eight-year-old daughter and was close to his parents and extended family. He was active and athletic from his youth — playing football and baseball in high school — and retained an easy affection for family pets and quiet acts of care, such as looking after relatives during illness. Friends and family remember him for his kindness, his willingness to mentor others, and a resilient spirit that found purpose in helping people find stability and work.

Though his life was cut far too short on September 13, 2013, those who knew Will recall a man who believed in second chances and who worked tirelessly to create a hopeful future for others. His commitment to family and community, and the warmth he showed to those around him, remain how he is honored and remembered.
