James A. Taylor, Jr. was a devoted son and loving father who brought joy with his smile, quick wit, and a love of basketball — remembered for his warmth, laughter, and the light he gave his family.

A life held close in memory
James A. Taylor, Jr. was called home on May 15, 2017. Born to Lina L. Jones and James A. Taylor Sr., James carried a bright spirit that touched family and friends. A student at Central High School, he loved basketball and played with the Emerald Youth team; he could often be found enjoying video games and sharing his playful sense of humor.
James was a devoted father to his children, Javen Brice and Amina Taylor, and treasured the role of son, brother, uncle and friend. He is remembered for his warm smile, his wit, and the kindness he showed to those around him. Family and friends recall his joyful presence and the genuine care he gave to his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Betty Glenn and Emmitt Jones and brothers JaMed and Antwaun Taylor. He is survived by his mother Lina Jones; his father James (Kira) Taylor; his fiancée, Chasiddy Littlejohn; his children; grandparents Delrose Green and Sam Thompson; great-grandmother Mary Lane; numerous siblings, nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles and devoted family friends who cherish his memory.
Family received friends and held services in Knoxville arranged by Jarnigan & Son Mortuary. Those who knew James remember him for the joy he brought into ordinary moments and for the love he had for family. His memory lives on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
