Guy Cason

Guy William Cason was born February 21, 1973, in Columbus, Ohio, and was known by family and friends for his love of music, his cooking, and his devotion to his three daughters. A graduate of Independence High School and a former member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Guy blended a steady work ethic with a joyful creative side — he worked for Shanka and spent much of his free time sharing music as a DJ around Columbus.

Family was central to Guy’s life. He was the third of three children raised by his mother, Freida Cason, and he is remembered as a loving father to Paris Rain Cason, Paij Rikole, and Payton Ryanne Andrews. Those who knew him recall his pride in his children, his gentle presence with younger relatives, and the laughter he brought to family gatherings. Cooking was one of Guy’s passions alongside music; preparing meals and sharing songs were simple ways he showed care for those close to him.

Guy’s life was marked by connections that extended across generations — parents, siblings, a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and longtime friends who stood by him. He counted among his close friends Antwon Taylor, Vance and Charles Brown, and Nathaniel Mitchell, and he is remembered fondly by former teachers and classmates from Independence High School.

A celebration of Guy’s life was held on April 28, 2012, at O.R. Woodyard Chapel with interment at Green Lawn Cemetery. Those who loved him have left many messages of condolence and remembrance, describing him as kindhearted, musical, and a devoted father. His family entrusted the professional services to O.R. Woodyard Chapel.

Guy’s memory lives on in the stories, songs, and meals he shared, and most of all in the love he carried for his daughters. He is remembered with deep affection by his family and community.
