Remembering Gonzalo

A life held close in memory

Gonzalo Andrew Gonzalez, born July 22, 1999, in Houston, Texas, was a bright and determined young man who followed his passion for visual storytelling. A 2017 graduate of Summer Creek High School, Gonzalo went on to pursue higher education and was studying Marketing at the University of Houston. He combined his academic interests with entrepreneurial energy, founding two Houston-based businesses to promote his photography and videography work.

Gonzalo found joy behind the lens. Whether photographing friends, filming short projects, or building a portfolio, he worked to turn creative ideas into finished pieces. Those close to him remember a young man who cared deeply for his craft and who approached projects with both imagination and focus. Outside of his creative pursuits, Gonzalo’s warmth was evident in his care for his German Shepherd, Kali, and in the close relationships he kept with family and friends.

He is remembered by his parents, Gonzalo and Gloria Gonzalez, his grandmother Juanita Salazar, his girlfriend Emily Bermudez, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who treasured him. Gonzalo was preceded in death by his grandparents Carlos and Josefina Gonzalez and Fidel Salazar.

Funeral services were arranged by Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home with visitation and a funeral Mass held in early January 2020. Though taken from his loved ones at a young age, Gonzalo’s creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and the images he left behind continue to reflect the care and dedication he brought to everything he did. He will be fondly remembered by those who knew him for his talents, his devotion to family, and the quiet ways he made ordinary moments feel memorable.
