Remembering George

A life held close in memory

George Arthur Jamison Jr., 43, of Pennington, New Jersey, is remembered as a thoughtful, book-loving man devoted to his family and to helping others. Born in Windsor, New York, and a graduate of Washington College, George built a quiet life centered on his wife, Rachel, and their three children, Kismet, Calliope, and Atticus. Colleagues at SERV Behavioral Health recalled him as intelligent, gentle, and steady — someone who brought calm and care to his work.

Friends and neighbors in Princeton and Pennington knew him as a devoted parent often seen with his children around town, the kind of person who found solace in museums, literature, and quiet conversation rather than the spotlight. He treasured small, meaningful activities: strolling through the Princeton University Art Museum, reading, and sharing time with family. Those who loved him describe a warm, attentive father and a partner who valued everyday moments.

A memorial service was held at Wilson-Apple Funeral Home in Pennington on August 8, 2014, where family and friends gathered to honor his memory. He is survived by his wife Rachel Brown Jamison; his children Kismet, Calliope, and Atticus; his father, George A. Jamison Sr.; his sister, Dawn Jamison of Ithaca, New York; and other relatives who carry forward his memory.

George’s life was marked by quiet devotion — to his family, to his work in mental-health services, and to the small pleasures of reading and art. Those who remember him recall a gentle intelligence and an abiding tenderness toward his children. Though his life was cut far too short, his warmth, care, and the steady presence he gave his family remain with those who loved him.
