Remembering Francisco
A life held close in memory
Francisco “Chente” Vicente Duarte (October 21, 2013 – November 12, 2023) was a beloved son, grandson and friend whose gentle presence touched those around him. Known to many simply as “Chente,” he often helped his mother at the family’s stall at Cole’s Flea Market in Pearland, where neighbors remember his readiness to lend a hand and his easy smile. Though only ten years old, Chente was cherished by relatives and market vendors alike for his kindness and the small, everyday ways he supported his family.
A child of the Houston/Pearland community, Chente is remembered in the words of those who knew him as a sweet and helpful boy — called an “angelito” by members of his community. His family received an outpouring of support after his passing: neighbors organized fundraisers to help with funeral expenses and many came together in mourning. His grandparents in Mexico were later able to travel to the United States to be with family for services.
Chente leaves behind the memory of a young life that mattered deeply to his family and the community he was part of. He will be held in the hearts of those who knew him for his warmth, his helpful nature, and the promise of childhood that was cut far too short. May his memory be a blessing to his loved ones.
