Eric Mendoza

Eric Anthony Mendoza, born March 22, 1990, in San Antonio, is remembered as a devoted son, brother and a bright young man taken far too soon on October 21, 2010. Eric grew up in San Antonio, surrounded by family who recall his steady presence, warm smile and competitive spirit.

A 2009 graduate of Wagner High School, Eric was active in athletics throughout his youth — participating in wrestling, baseball and football — and later found an outlet in weightlifting. Those who knew him remembered his drive and quiet dedication, whether on the field or working toward his next goal. He worked nights while saving to continue his education, determined to create opportunities for himself and his family.

Eric was the cherished son of Filiberto Mendoza and Patricia Hernandez. He is survived by his parents, his brother Patrick Mendoza, grandparents, a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends who shared his laughter and companionship. The family home and his close community provided the foundation for the young man he became: loyal, hardworking and proud of his roots. He was also fond of his dog Rusty, who was part of the household he loved.

Family and friends gathered to honor Eric’s life with visitation and a rosary at Sunset Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. He was laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park. Those services reflected the deep love of his family and the outpouring of support from his community.

Eric’s life, though brief, left a lasting impression on those around him: a young man who pursued his goals with determination and who mattered deeply to his family and friends. He is remembered with love and gratitude for the moments he shared and the care he showed to those close to him.
