Emelio Miranda

Emelio Miranda, born December 9, 1997, passed away on January 6, 2019. A son who valued his family above all, Emelio is remembered by those who knew him for his presence within close relationships and the care he showed to the people nearest him.

In his early twenties, Emelio was raising a young family and remained connected to his neighborhood on Chicago’s Southwest Side. Loved ones recall everyday gestures — being there for family members, the quiet ways he supported those he cared for, and the importance he placed on family life. His daughter and those who cared for her were central to his life in his final months.

Friends and relatives gathered in January 2019 to honor Emelio’s life and to support one another through grief. Funeral services were arranged at Kosary Funeral Home in Evergreen Park, Illinois, where family and community members came together to remember him and to share stories about who he was beyond the headlines.

Though his life was cut far too short, Emelio’s memory lives on in the hearts of family members and friends who remember him for his tenderness and the roles he held as a son and a father.
