Remembering Elisa

A life held close in memory

Elisa “Lisa‑Lee” Scott (May 1, 1981 – August 20, 2020) was remembered for her warm spirit, infectious laughter and loving devotion to family. Born in Bad Friedrichshall, Germany, Elisa grew up in a military family and later returned with her family to Hopewell, Virginia, where she attended and graduated from Hopewell High School. Friends and family called her Lisa‑Lee or TeeTee and recall a person who enjoyed life fully — singing, dancing and finding ways to make ordinary moments feel like celebrations.

A devoted mother to three children, Elisa found joy in family life and in creative pursuits. She enjoyed home décor and writing stories, and she carried a lively, generous energy into gatherings with loved ones. Her presence was described by those who knew her as bright, fun-loving and wise; she often reminded others to “never forget who you are or where you came from.” Those words reflect the pride she took in her roots and the steady guidance she offered those close to her.

Elisa’s family and friends remember her as the life of the party — someone who filled rooms with song and laughter and who treasured simple pleasures: music, shared meals, and time with her children. While public accounts note the tragic circumstances of her passing on August 20, 2020, at VCU/MCV Medical Center, the lasting memory held by those who loved her is of a woman who loved fiercely and lived with warmth and personality.

Her family celebrated her life in a remembrance arranged by J M Wilkerson Funeral Establishment. Those who knew Elisa keep her memory alive through stories of her energy, her creativity, and the affection she showed to family and friends. In remembering Elisa, loved ones honor the bright parts of her life — her laughter, her voice, and the devotion she showed as a mother.

Elisa’s life touched many in Hopewell and beyond. She is survived by her children and by the relatives and friends who carry forward her spirit and the simple wisdom she shared. Though her time was far too short, the love she gave remains a lasting gift to those who knew her.
