Drevian Mays

Drevian Mays, born August 20, 2001, of Bradenton, Florida, was a beloved son, student and athlete who brought energy and leadership to every room he entered. A senior at Braden River High School, Drevian excelled both in the classroom and on the field and court, playing football and basketball for many years and earning the respect of teammates and coaches alike.

Those who knew Drevian remember him for more than his athletic talent. He served as President of the Brothers United mentoring program, investing his time in helping younger peers and standing as a positive example in his community. Drevian also shared his faith and his voice as part of the Senior Elite Praise and Worship team at Emmanuel Gods Church, where his participation reflected a commitment to family, fellowship and service.

Drevian’s family—mother Tamika Neal and father Andre Mays—and his wider circle of friends and teammates recall a young man who was kind, outgoing and deeply connected to those he loved. He treasured time with family and was described by relatives as having a generous spirit and a bright future ahead. His presence at school, church and community events brought others together and inspired support from classmates and neighbors.

Funeral services were arranged by Westside Funeral Home with visitation and a memorial service held in mid‑March 2019. The outpouring of support from the community—vigils, fundraisers and tributes—spoke to how widely Drevian was loved and how many lives he touched in his short time. While his loss is felt deeply, memories of his leadership, faith and joyful participation in school and community life remain a lasting tribute.

Drevian will be remembered for his warmth, his leadership among peers, and the bright potential he carried into each new day. He is mourned by family, friends, teammates and all who were fortunate to know him.
