Douglas Anthony Bourque

Douglas Anthony Bourque, born January 12, 1980, was a devoted son and brother whose life was rooted in the communities of Kaplan and Abbeville, Louisiana. Known to family as a steady presence, Doug valued his close relationships and the quiet rhythms of everyday life with those he loved.

He is survived by his father, Leonard Bourque, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Kaplan; his mother, Kim Kay Sarver of Sunset; and his brothers Joshua (and wife Mallory) of Kaplan, Kyle (and wife Sally) of Lafayette, and Zachary Gray of Sunset. Doug was also cherished by his paternal grandmother, Margarite Bourque of Kaplan, and his maternal grandmother, Peggy Carahan of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Leonard Bourque, Sr., and his maternal grandfather, Gilbert Sarver.

Family and friends remember Doug for the bonds he kept with those closest to him and for the everyday kindnesses that marked his relationships. His memorial service was held at Vincent Funeral Home in Kaplan, where loved ones gathered to honor his memory and share remembrances. Though his passing on April 17, 2018 was sudden and deeply felt, the love he gave to family endures in the stories and memories they hold.

Doug’s life mattered to many — his name lives on in the families who loved him and the community that held him. Those who knew him carry forward his memory with quiet gratitude for the time they shared.
