Obituary

A formal remembrance

Donell D'Angelo Jones Jr., 17, of Milwaukee, passed away on April 20, 2025. A devoted son and a spirited student, Donell was known for his quick smile, work ethic, and genuine care for those around him.

As a senior at Milwaukee Lutheran High School, Donell was a valued teammate and running back whose speed and enthusiasm for the game drew admiration from coaches and classmates. He balanced school and sport with part-time work as a cashier at a local Metro Market, saving for a car and for his plans to attend Northern Illinois University to study medical science. Those who knew him described him as respectful, smart, and ambitious—someone with clear goals and the drive to reach them.

Donell’s family, friends, and school community gathered to celebrate his life and the promise of a future he had been building. A chapel service and school-led gatherings provided space for teammates, teachers, and classmates to remember his energy, his love of football, and the small, everyday kindnesses that marked his life.

Though his life was far too short, Donell’s hopes for college and a career in the medical sciences reflect the care he intended to bring to others. He is remembered with love by his family, by teammates who admired his heart on and off the field, and by a community that mourned the loss of a young life full of potential. The family’s arrangements were handled by New Pitts Mortuary, with funeral services held in Milwaukee. In honoring Donell, those who loved him continue to ask for compassion and an end to the violence that cut his life short.
