David Velazquez

David Velazquez, born April 5, 2005, in Chicago, brought warmth and energy to everyone around him. A 2023 graduate of Hammond Central High School, David was known among family and friends for his joyful, outgoing nature and his readiness to help others. He loved spending time with loved ones, playing cards, and exploring downtown Chicago with friends—simple pleasures that reflected how much he valued company and connection.

Devoted to his family, David was a loving son to Sandra and Fermin Velazquez and a proud brother to Fermin, Arelis, Alfonso, Fernando, Alyssa, Hector, Arianna, and Ailyn. He treasured his role as an uncle and held a special place in the hearts of his grandparents, Alfonso and Andrea Velazquez and David and Eva Flores. David’s girlfriend, Monse, and his wide circle of friends were central parts of his everyday life.

People who knew David remember him for both his bright spirit and his strong work ethic. He carried himself with a kindness that made others feel seen and supported. Whether laughing with friends, helping family, or sharing time with his nieces and nephews, David’s presence was a source of comfort and warmth.

Family and community gathered to honor David in early April 2026. A visitation was held at Hillside Funeral Home in Highland, Indiana, followed by a funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception in Chicago and burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomed gestures of support as they navigated both grief and practical needs during this difficult time.

Though his life was far too short, David’s generosity of spirit, his laughter, and the love he shared with his family and friends leave a lasting impression on all who knew him. He will be remembered for the joy he brought into ordinary days and the steady care he showed to those around him.
