DarShawn Jauan Carr

DarShawn Jauan Carr, affectionately called Shawn by family and friends, was born April 26, 1993, in Akron, Ohio. A lifelong member of Greater Peace Baptist Church, DarShawn’s family remembers him as a devoted son and a brother who treasured time with loved ones. He attended East High School and carried with him the simple joys of life: cheering for the Chicago Bulls, playing Xbox, and enjoying Dragon Ball Z.

Shawn’s family says he took comfort in his faith and in the close-knit relationships that surrounded him. He is remembered by his parents, Seneada Burke and Rodney Carr; his brothers Demetrius Carr, Demonte Carr and Deon Williams; and his many sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who held him dear. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Eddie and Jewell Lewis and his grandmother Mary Carr.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate his life at Wilkinson Funeral Home in Akron. Those who knew DarShawn recall a young man whose everyday pleasures and quiet loyalties reflected the care he showed for those around him. Though his life was cut short, the warmth he brought to family gatherings, his enthusiasm for the things he loved, and the bonds he formed in his community remain part of his memory.

In remembering DarShawn, his loved ones honor the relationships, interests, and faith that defined him. He is held in the hearts of those who loved him and will be remembered for the small, meaningful ways he brightened the lives of family and friends.
