Remembering Damon

A life held close in memory

Damon Jay McGee (November 14, 2008 – July 28, 2025) was a young man whose life brightened the days of those around him. Born in 2008, Damon spent time in Henderson and Louisiana before his family made their home in Mesquite. Though only 16, he was described by relatives as a devoted son and a caring older brother who loved his family deeply.

Damon’s family remembers a boy who placed family first. He is survived by his mother, Alina Thibodeaux; his siblings, Emily and Kaleb McGee; and grandparents and extended family who loved him across Texas and Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his father, Jay McGee, and his grandmother, Karen Thibodeaux. Those who knew Damon recall the small, meaningful ways he showed affection — the pride he took in his role at home and the comfort he offered to those closest to him.

Friends and relatives gathered to honor Damon’s life with services held at Crawford-A Crim Funeral Home in Henderson. In the days after his passing, family, classmates, and community members shared memories and photos, and many offered support through messages, visits, and tributes. A memorial fundraiser organized by family provided one way for the community to help Damon’s loved ones at a difficult time.

While Damon’s time with us was far too short, those who loved him remember a young man whose presence mattered in everyday ways: a faithful family member, a brother who cared for his siblings, and a neighbor whose life left an impression on those around him. He will be remembered with love and gratitude by his family and friends, who carry forward the warmth he gave to them.
