Remembering Cody

A life held close in memory

Cody Klotz, 27, of Lowell, Indiana, brought warmth and hardworking steadiness to everyone who knew him. A 2008 graduate of Lowell High School, Cody made his living as a carpenter and was a member of Local #272, where colleagues remembered him as a natural leader who treated others with respect. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and motocross, hunting and fishing, and spending time helping his father in the shop. Above all, Cody’s greatest joy was his daughter, Jayden, who was central to his life.

Family was important to Cody. He is survived by his daughter Jayden; his parents, Frank (Liz) and Colleen Klotz; sisters Amanda Almaguer and Stephanie (Kipp) Moore; nieces and nephew Emily, Vada, Nevaeh and Trevor; grandmother Joanne Klotz; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends, including his longtime friend Nate Brogdon. He was preceded in death by his sister Brianna, his uncle Joe Klotz and his grandfather Frank Klotz.

Visitation was held at Sheets Funeral Home in Lowell, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Edward Catholic Church and burial at Lake Village Cemetery. The family asked that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be given to support Jayden.

Cody is remembered for his hands-on skills, his love of the outdoors and motorcycles, and the pride he took in being a father. Those who knew him recall a young man who worked hard, enjoyed racing and riding, and cherished time with family. This remembrance honors the life he lived and the people who loved him.
