Brittney Mills

Brittney Deylon Mills (29) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, brought light to those around her through her faith, family ties, and caring spirit. A loving daughter to Barbara Johnson Mills and Hansen B. Mills, Sr., Brittney was a devoted mother to her daughter, Kamille Mariama, and to her infant son, Brenton Dalon Mills. She attended North Iberville High School and completed studies at Second Chance Academy of Baton Rouge, and she had been employed with Performance Engineering.

Friends and family remember Brittney for her warm presence and radiant smile. Messages left on her memorial page describe a woman who brightened everyday moments—whether participating in a school activity with her daughter or sharing a laugh with neighbors. Those who knew her speak of a deep faith that sustained her and of the kindness she showed to others.

Brittney was cherished by siblings including Dr. Tia T. Mills, Carol Ridge, Roderick L. Hill (Kesha), Lance A. Mills, Hansen Mills Jr., Melvin Mills, and Lorenzo Murphy, and by extended family and cousins who called her a special presence in their lives. She was preceded in death by grandparents Louis and Lula Johnson and Louis and Mary Mills and by her sister Linda Mills.

A visitation and religious service were held in early May 2015 at New Mount Olive Baptist Church in Grosse Tete, LA, with interment at Heavenly Gates Mausoleum in Baton Rouge. In the weeks and months following her passing, family and community members gathered in prayer and remembrance, honoring Brittney’s life and the love she gave to her children and family.

Though her life was cut far too short, Brittney’s memory remains with those who loved her. Her family and friends continue to remember her warmth, her faith, and the everyday gestures that made her beloved.
