Remembering Bre’Untae

A life held close in memory

Bre'Untae JaWon “Tè” Hicks, 27, of Jonesboro, Louisiana, was cherished for his polite, kind nature and an infectious smile that brightened every room. Born April 4, 1997, Bre'Untae grew up in a close-knit, faith-filled family and remained active in his church community. A 2015 graduate of Jonesboro-Hodge High School, he continued his education at Delta Community College where he earned a technical degree in welding. Bre'Untae applied those skills as a millwright at Jeld‑Wen in Dodson, taking pride in his work and in providing for those he loved.

Beyond his trade, Bre'Untae was a creative soul — the founder and CEO of Bear Vizuals Photography and Videography — who found joy in capturing moments for others. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and he enjoyed riding motorcycles with friends. Family and companionship were central to his life; he was known for being thoughtful, respectful, and quick with a genuine smile that lingered in the memories of classmates and neighbors.

Bre'Untae is survived by his parents, Jacqueline and Terrance Blankenship and JaMarcus Roy; siblings and many extended family members who treasured his presence. He was preceded in death by several grandparents. A celebration of his life was held on October 14, 2023, at North Hodge Assembly of God, with interment at Bethany Church Cemetery in Quitman under the care of Paradise Funeral Home.

Though his time was far too brief, Bre'Untae’s gifts — his craftsmanship, creativity, quiet generosity, and bright laughter — continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His memory is honored for the love he gave, the work he did, and the smiles he left behind.

Bre’Untae was gone far too soon. May the love, memories, and moments connected to this life continue to be treasured, and may those mourning find comfort in remembering what mattered most.
