Brandon Giles

Brandon Montez Giles Jr., known to many as “BG,” was a man whose laughter and warm smile left an impression on everyone around him. Born January 3, 1987, Brandon grew up between Johnston, Harnett, and Wilson counties and carried with him a love of sports and family that defined much of his life. He took pride in his family ties and was known for teasing his younger cousins while also teaching them lessons about standing strong.

Brandon’s family remembers him for his hearty laugh, his fondness for the color red, and the way he lit up a room with a quick joke or an easygoing “You feel me?” He cherished his role as a father; he is remembered by his daughter Ma’Kyah Elliott of Dunn and his son Brandon Blue, and he was also a grandfather to Ka’Narri Dariae. He was preceded in death by his son Jayvlen Blue and his sister Willa Taylor.

He was the son of Bobbie Jean Giles and Sylvester Thompson, and he is survived by sisters Janiyah Giles and Johnasia Small; brothers Brute Giles, Chu’Corey Giles, Kendrix Giles, and Timothy Covington (Debra); and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry his memory forward. Special friends and family who played important roles in his life include Alesia McDonald and Shayla Gist.

Brandon earned his GED later in life and met life’s challenges with resilience. His family recalls his heart of gold, his penchant for playful rivalry with younger relatives, and the deep affection he held for those closest to him. Services to celebrate his life were held at Central Baptist Church in Dunn, and he was laid to rest at Resthaven Cemetery.

Though his time was cut short, Brandon’s warmth and the memories he made with his children, family, and friends remain. He is remembered not for the manner of his passing, but for the human moments he shared: his laughter, his care for family, and the small, enduring ways he made others smile.
