Remembering Billie

A life held close in memory

Billie Sue McFall Holloman was born February 26, 1942, in Alcoa, Tennessee, and carried with her the warmth of small-town life throughout the years. Raised as the second daughter in a close-knit family, Billie treasured her lifelong bond with her older sister and the memories of summers spent at the local pool and visits to the family farm. Those early experiences shaped a woman who valued family, simple pleasures, and generous companionship.

A devoted mother, Billie welcomed her daughter in 1961 and later took great delight in being an attentive grandmother. Family life was central to her — she loved taking grandchildren shopping, cheering at their activities, and creating traditions like yearly trips to their favorite beach at St. Simons. Those shared moments, from playful afternoons feeding ducks to quiet evenings reading together, were among the joys she treasured most.

Always curious and eager to learn, Billie pursued a career in pharmacy, a choice that reflected her practical intelligence and desire to help others. She was also active in her church community, including offering sign-language ministry, and she enjoyed travel with loved ones — recent journeys included visits to Costa Rica and Ireland. In later years she and her husband settled in Eastern Tennessee where they embraced a quieter life, gardening, canning, and caring for their dog.

Billie was known for an infectious laugh, a generous spirit, and an interest in people’s stories. Family and friends remember her as honest, hard-working, and deeply caring. She is survived by her daughter and grandchildren and many extended family members who carry forward the warmth and memories she created. A celebration of her life was held in November 2020 in Alcoa, Tennessee, where those who loved her gathered to honor her gentle presence and the bright moments she shared. Her family’s love remains the abiding testament to a life lived with kindness.
