Obituary

A formal remembrance

Austin Howard Powell, 23, of Germantown, Tennessee, is remembered for the energy and warmth he brought to every room. A senior at Mississippi State University studying Public Relations, Austin combined a quick wit and steady kindness with a sincere commitment to his friends, fraternity brothers, and church community.

Raised in Tennessee, Austin graduated from Briarcrest High School in 2013 where he was active in athletics, playing soccer and basketball. At Mississippi State he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and was known among classmates for his engaging manner and ready laugh. Austin attended Grace Evangelical Church and carried a faith that mattered to him and to those who knew him best.

Family and friends recall Austin’s easygoing charm and his gift for making ordinary moments feel important. Whether cheering on the Bulldogs, joking with teammates, or supporting classmates, he is remembered as someone who lifted others with his presence. The ties he kept with family and childhood friends were clearly central to his life.

Funeral services were held at Grace Evangelical Church in Germantown, with burial in Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery in Brownsville, Tennessee. Those who loved Austin gathered to celebrate his life, to share memories, and to honor the kindness he showed in his short life.

Though his time was far too brief, Austin’s memory endures in the stories told by his family, friends, and the Mississippi State community. He is remembered with affection, and his impact on the people who knew him remains a quiet testament to a life that mattered.
