Remembering Anthony

A life held close in memory

Anthony Levi Hodge of Smiths Station, Alabama, passed away on October 19, 2025, at the age of 34. Born August 1, 1991, in Columbus, Georgia, Anthony carried in his heart a deep commitment to family and an easygoing kindness that those close to him treasured. He is remembered first and foremost as a loving husband to Cassie Lynne Johnson and a devoted father to his two children, Avery and Wyatt, who were the center of his world.

A graduate of Smiths Station High School, Anthony found his passion in the kitchen. He began his culinary path at Waffle House and later brought his talents to the restaurants Loft and Mabella’s in downtown Columbus. Friends and family recall his pride in preparing meals and the pleasure he took in serving others — whether at a family barbecue, a neighborhood gathering, or a quiet evening with those he loved.

Outside of cooking, Anthony enjoyed Alabama football, sharing game-day traditions with loved ones, and music, often passing along his appreciation for songs and rhythms to his children. He loved being outdoors: grilling for family, riding in his truck, and finding simple joy in time spent with relatives and friends. His laugh and ready smile were a comfort to many and a hallmark of the gatherings he hosted.

He is survived by his wife, Cassie, his children Avery and Wyatt; his father, Timothy Wyatt Hodge; and two brothers, Brandon Jinright and Wayne Hodge, as well as a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will remember his warmth and generosity. He was preceded in death by his mother, Athena Leola (Grow) Hodge, and his brother, Jonathan Jinright.

Family and friends honored Anthony’s life with visitation at Colonial Funeral Home & Crematory in Phenix City, and a funeral service to celebrate his life. Those who knew Anthony recall a man who loved fiercely, cooked with heart, and whose presence made ordinary moments—meals, games, and weekend outings—into lasting memories. His spirit lives on in his children and in the many small kindnesses he offered to others.
