Remembering Anthony
A life held close in memory
Anthony Andrew Child, born August 2, 1992, in Ogden, Utah, touched many lives with his creative curiosity and open heart. A son of Heather Gould and Heber Harris Child, Anthony grew up in the Ogden area and attended Lomond View Elementary, Orion Jr., and Weber High. Friends and family remember him for his bright, contagious smile and his ability to welcome others without judgment.
Anthony followed a wide range of interests. He enjoyed horticulture and the outdoors, and he loved making and sharing music — writing songs and poems that reflected his thoughtful nature. He also pursued hands-on arts such as glass blowing and took pleasure in geology and light work. Those who knew him often recalled his generous spirit: he gave freely to others and sought to make situations more beautiful and positive.
More than his hobbies, Anthony was known for his warmth toward people. He made many friends who became like family, and he carried a quiet independence alongside a compassionate approach to those around him. His family said he had a gift for loving people and a desire to help others whenever he could.
A Celebration of Life was held on October 6, 2018, at the Botanical Gardens in Ogden, where friends and family gathered to honor his memory. Anthony is survived by his parents, Heber and Heather Child; siblings Alex (Jen), Lorah, Lizzie, and Melanie; and grandparents Joe and Sharon Gould and Vern and Lola Child. He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother Johnson.
Those who wish to remember Anthony are invited to celebrate his life by spending time outdoors, listening to music he loved, tending a garden, or offering kindness to someone in need. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested donations to a favorite charity in his memory.
