Annie Strickling-Ganes

Annie Nicolle Strickling (known in some notices as Annie Strickling-Ganes) brought a lively, creative presence to every room she entered. Born December 13, 1997, in Joplin, Missouri, Annie followed a clear calling to education after graduating from Joplin High School and earning her degree in Education from Missouri Southern State University. She began her teaching career in the Neosho School District, where she taught first grade at Carver Elementary before sharing her artistic gifts as an art teacher at RISE Elementary.

Annie was known for encouraging curiosity and imagination in young learners. Her students remember a teacher who celebrated creativity, helped them try new things, and made school a place of welcome. Outside the classroom she loved art, animals, reading, and the simple pleasures of spending time with friends. Those who knew her recall her bright smile, her willingness to strike up a conversation with anyone, and a voice that could light up a gathering.

Family was central to Annie’s life. She is survived by her parents and by family who meant the world to her, as well as by half-sisters and grandparents who treasured her. The community she served—colleagues, students, and neighbors—also mourn her loss and remember the patience, imagination, and kindness she gave so freely.

Funeral services were held under the care of local mortuary services, and the family asked that memorials be directed to the Joplin Humane Society, reflecting Annie’s love of animals. Though her life was far too brief, Annie’s influence endures in the children she taught, the artwork she inspired, and the many quiet moments of care she offered to those around her. She will be remembered for the joy she brought into ordinary days and the gentle way she helped others grow.
