Remembering AnnaElise

A life held close in memory

AnnaElise MaryEtta (McMann) Edgeton, 18, of Cedar Rapids, cherished her family, pets, and caring work. Born June 11, 1999, in Cedar Rapids, AnnaElise finished high school early and earned her CNA certification through UnityPoint, where she found purpose caring for residents at Living Center East. Her gentle intuition and mature sense of responsibility shone in the way she supported those in her care.

AnnaElise loved simple, joyful things: baking sugar cookies, crafting, and spending time with her beloved dog Tinker, cat Angel, and her bearded dragon, Wiz. Friends and family remember her as determined, outspoken, bright, and spunky—qualities that blended with a deep kindness and a special bond with her mother. In August 2017 she married John Edgeton Jr., and her devotion to her husband was a defining part of her life.

She is survived by her husband, John Edgeton Jr.; her parents, Ted and Lori McMann; siblings Jacob, Mandy and Jory McMann; grandparents Ernest and Mary Dochterman; and an extended circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who treasured her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Cleo and Irene McMann.

Family and friends celebrated AnnaElise’s life with a remembrance ceremony; memorials were directed to the family in care of Murdoch‑Linwood Funeral Home. Those who knew her recall a young woman whose compassion and energy brightened the lives around her—a life cut far too short but remembered for love, care, and the small everyday gifts she shared.
