Obituary

A formal remembrance

Angel Leanne Smith (June 20, 1991 – April 1, 2023) brought warmth and creativity into the lives of everyone who knew her. A caring mother to C.J., R.J., and London, Angel placed her children at the center of her world and worked to build a loving, hopeful life for them after moving to Louisiana in 2017.

Born June 20, 1991, Angel’s curiosity and energy showed in everyday things — she loved to swim and spend time at the beach, and she found joy in decorating and making arts and crafts. Those close to her remember a woman who cared deeply for her circle of friends and who formed close bonds with coworkers during her time with Home Depot, where her creativity and friendliness made work feel like family.

Angel is survived by her mother, Betty Smith (Jim Smith); four sisters, Leslie Hogue, Diana Smith, Crista Jordan, and Cherie Smith; one brother, Josh Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, and treasured friends including Khamelia Tidwell, Tamela Turner, and Brittney Howell. She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Thompson. Most of all, her children — C.J., R.J., and London — were her pride and joy, and their memory is central to remembering Angel.

Her family and friends recall a generous spirit, a love of simple pleasures, and a willingness to pour care into those she loved. Though her life was cut short, Angel’s laughter, creativity, and the tender devotion she showed her children leave an enduring impression on those who loved her. May her family find comfort in the bright, personal moments she created and in the many ways her presence enriched their lives.
