Andrew Jackson White

Andrew Jackson White (June 8, 2003 – May 30, 2017) was a lively and confident young boy who brought joy to his family and friends. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Andrew later made Chickasha, Oklahoma, his home when he moved to live with his great‑grandparents, Gail and Robert White. He treasured family time, enjoyed joking around, and was known for the affection he showed toward his dog, Ivey.

Andrew attended Chickasha Public Schools and was preparing to begin high school as a freshman. Like many boys his age, he loved playing video games and spending time with cousins and close family — especially nights when cousin Jacob stayed over. He helped his great‑grandparents around the house and often said things that showed a bright, resilient spirit; he once told his grandmother, “I don't care what the other kids say, there has to be something wrong with them, not me,” a small but telling glimpse of his confidence and good humor.

He was proud of being named after his great‑great‑grandfather Andrew Jackson Traywick, a name he thought was “very cool.” Those who knew Andrew remember a boy who gave and received love freely, who enjoyed ordinary pleasures and family routines, and who mattered deeply to a wide circle of relatives across Chickasha and Texas.

Andrew is survived by his great‑grandparents, Gail and Robert White; his father Chris White and stepmother; his mother Elizabeth Werden; siblings and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family who treasured him. He was preceded in death by sisters Makilla Wright and Shyla Gonzales and several relatives.

Services were held in early June 2017 at OK Cremation & Funeral Home in Oklahoma City. In memory of Andrew, family members suggested contributions to a GoFundMe set up to assist the family. Though his life was short, Andrew’s warmth, humor, and the love he shared with family and friends remain in their memories.
