Remembering Alan

A life held close in memory

Alan “Lance” Alverson (February 25, 1969 – January 28, 2015) cherished simple, steady pleasures: long drives for work, time outside fishing or camping, and sharing moments with family and friends. A lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Lance found delight in music across genres and in posting snapshots of his life on the road that became friendly daily notes to those who knew him.

Born in Fort Worth, Lance cared deeply for his family. He is remembered by his wife, Shari Alverson; his daughter, Ciera Alverson Rog (and her husband Joseph); grandchildren Gavin, Kenna and Ryleigh Jo; his parents; siblings; and many extended family members and friends who felt the warmth of his generosity and faith. Those who knew him recall a man comfortable offering a prayer, an encouraging word, or a laugh when it was needed.

Lance loved the outdoors and the quiet satisfaction of a day spent fishing or camping. He took pride in his work as a truck driver, and he often shared his view from the road with friends and family, a small habit that kept him connected despite long hours away from home. His faith was important to him and shaped the way he approached life and relationships.

He will be remembered for his open-heartedness, the simple joys he celebrated, and the love he held for those close to him. Services to honor Lance’s life were held in Texas, where family and friends gathered to celebrate his memory and the many small ways he brightened the lives around him.
